OnlineMathLeague.com Utilizes Blue Sphere for Test Creation Strategy

Online Math League (OML) was created to enable online math test competitions between students. These contests have been held throughout the school year, and thousands of students have eagerly participated. Until recently, the website had not provided online practice tests for participating students due to the high cost of programming each individual practice test.
OML needed an inexpensive solution to create practice tests independently without a website programmer, publish those tests to the web, and enable score tracking for students working to improve their skills. They also needed a richer, interactive website presence to improve the overall student experience at OnlineMathLeague.com.
Steve Goulet of Blue Sphere was selected by OML to provide technical consulting. His expertise in educational technology and computer-based testing was leveraged to plan and deliver a solution capable of reducing cost and improving usability.
Blue Sphere has been involved in online assessment and computer-based testing previously, but a focus on educational technology was a welcome addition to a growing list of Blue Sphere competencies, according to Steve. “We have engineered web-based assessment tools for other customers in the past, but the opportunity to work with OML was a perfect match for my unique blend of technology and educational assessment skills. Our capabilities in online assessment and computerized testing are well aligned with the trend toward e-learning in both corporate and educational markets.”
The new version of OnlineMathLeague.com was launched in June, and is now accepting registrations for students in grades two through eight. The project has been a huge success and the resulting system has the potential to improve math skills for thousands of students.
